Summer Fun Days: Youth Drop-in Recreation

Summer Fun Days is a city-wide, summertime youth drop-in recreation program that runs 11 AM to 4 PM at parks throughout Long Beach.

Kids can have fun with crafts, games, sports, swimming excursions, and field trips at drop-in supervised recreation activities for ages 5-12. This is not a custodial care program.

Runs all summer long, from 6/17/19 until 8/23/19. Available at these locations: Admiral Kidd Park, Bixby Park, Chavez Park, Coolidge Park, DeForest Park, Drake Park, El Dorado Park West, MacArthur Park, McBride Park, M.L. King Park, Orizaba, Pan American Park, Ramona Park, Scherer Park, Seaside Park, Silverado Park, Somerset Park, Stearns Champions Park, Wardlow Park, Veterans Park, Whaley Park.

Be SAFE is a free city-wide summer youth recreation program during the evening hours of 6 pm to 9 pm. Find free family friendly recreation activities including classes, sports, fitness, movies, arts and crafts and more.

Celebrate Independence Day and ride your decorated bike along the Shoreline Bike Path in the 4th of July Bike Parade. Contests for patriotic speech and costume and watermelon seed spitting are part or the fun. 

Registration opens at 9:15 am, bike ride begins at 10 am.

Mud Mania: A Celebration of Adobe

Learn about our local adobe soil and its uses throughout history at one of the muddiest, wackiest events in Southern California! Guests will make real adobe bricks, plaster a wall with mud, construct a mini-adobe home, compete in mud relay races, throw a clay pot, explore archaeology, and even examine critters that live in the soil. There are also plenty of “clean” activities, and live bluegrass music throughout the afternoon. Refreshments for sale.
